Groups and Activities
At QHR, there are many ways you can get involved. Groups are always looking for new people to participant and help lead. If a description does not include a contact, then the best way to inquire about a group is to contact the Parish office.

The Legion of Mary
What is the Legion of Mary?
The Legion of Mary is an international Catholic lay organization founded on September 7, 1921, in Dublin, Ireland, by Frank Duff. It is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with over 10 million members worldwide. Legion members strive for holiness by serving Our Lord in union with Mary, primarily through the spiritual works of mercy.
The Legion of Mary has two main types of membership:
-
Active Members - Attend weekly meetings, perform an assigned apostolic work each week, and pray daily the Legion prayer called the "Catena."
-
Auxiliary Members - Pray for the active members and the Legion's work, committing to daily recitation of the Legion prayers (collectively known as the "Tessera").
Activities and Apostolate
These are the current works of Queen of the Holy Rosary praesidium*:
-
Visitation of the sick and elderly
-
Religious education
-
Distributing free sacramentals and Catholic literature
-
Organizing Public Square Rosary Rallies
-
Organizing parish events related to Marian spirituality
These activities are designed to encourage both Catholics and non-Catholics in their faith.
Spiritual Formation
The Legion emphasizes spiritual growth through:
-
Weekly meetings that include prayer, spiritual reading and discussion, a short allocutio by our spiritual director, and reports by members on their assigned apostolic works.
-
A structured approach to service that fosters community and personal sanctification.
-
Guidance from our spiritual director (our pastor), who helps members deepen their faith.

*Each parish unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium.
